Yale MUN Türkiye
Yale MUN
About the Program
Yale Model United Nations Türkiye (Yale MUN Türkiye) is a three-day English-language Model United Nations conference that brings together students in Grades 9, 10, and 11 to explore international relations, diplomacy, and global issues. Organized by the Yale International Relations Association (YIRA), the program gives students the opportunity to represent different countries and roles in sessions that simulate councils, assemblies, and crisis committees of the United Nations and other international organizations.
Known for its strong academic and research culture, Yale is one of the world's distinguished academic institutions and has educated world leaders, Nobel Prize-winning scholars, and prominent figures in the business world. Yale MUN offers high school students the opportunity to explore international relations, diplomacy, and global issues through an international Model United Nations experience conducted under the academic leadership of Yale University students.
The program will take place entirely in English at Boğaziçi University from May 28–30, 2027. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to receive the Y-MUN Certificate of Participation.
Program Outcomes
Students develop their research, academic reading, critical thinking, and analytical skills by exploring global issues from the perspective of the country or role assigned to them. They learn to evaluate an issue not only from their own point of view, but also through the political and diplomatic perspective of the country they represent.
During committee sessions, students strengthen their public speaking, academic English, and diplomatic communication skills by expressing their ideas clearly, persuasively, and in a structured manner in English. They learn to listen to opposing views, develop arguments, and support their positions with evidence.
Negotiation processes help students develop skills in collaborative problem-solving, teamwork, leadership, time management, and decision-making under pressure. As they work to find common ground between different perspectives, they gain practical experience in compromise and diplomatic negotiation.
Through academic and social interaction with Yale students and fellow delegates, students broaden their global perspectives, strengthen their intercultural communication skills, and develop greater academic awareness of the field of international relations.
